Ma-Yi Theatre Company Announces 2011-2012 Season

Ma-Yi Theater Company has announced its plans for the 2011-2012 season.

The theater will begin the year with Carla Ching’s The Sugar House at the Edge of the Wilderness, to run November 8-December 4 at the Connelly Theatre.

Daniella Topol will direct the play, which will feature Ali Ahn, Cindy Cheung, William Jackson Harper, Christopher Larkin, April Matthis, and David Spangler.
The creative team will include Clint Ramos (scenic design), Japhy Weideman (lighting design), Shane Rettig (sound design), Theresa Squire (costume design), and Aaron Rhyne (projection design).

In addition, the theater’s season will include Qui Nguyen’s The Inexplicable Redemption of Agent G, to run February 7-March 4 at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row, The production will be presented in association with Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company, which produced the work earlier this year. It will be directed by Robert Ross Parker, who staged the earlier production.

The play focuses on a man who returns to his native Vietnam seeking revenge for the brutal slaying of his family and friends.

The company will include original cast members William Jackson Harper, Jon Hoche, Bonnie Sherman, and Amy Kim Waschke. The creative team will include scenic and lighting designer Nick Francone, costume designer Jessica Shay, composer and sound designer Shane Rettig, multimedia designer Matthew Tennie, and puppet designer by David Valentine.
