The Tony Award-winning revival of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical will celebrate its return to Broadway by giving away free tickets for the show’s first performance on Tuesday, July 5 to the first 100 fans in line at the St. James Theatre, where the first national touring company of the musical will be playing a limited engagement through September 10.

Tickets will be distributed at 1pm, and are limited to one ticket per person. In addition, cast members will select the best dressed male and female winners (in hippie attire), who will win a walk-on role in a future performance of Hair, along with five tickets so that their family and friends can watch them join the tribe.

Hair, with a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot, tells the story of a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era. Diane Paulus has directed the production, which features choreography by Karole Armitage.

The cast stars Steel Burkhardt as Berger, Paris Remillard as Claude, Matt DeAngelis as Woof, Kaitlin Kiyan as Crissy, Darius Nichols as Hud, Kacie Sheik as Jeanie, Phyre Hawkins as Dionne and Caren Lyn Tackett as Sheila.

The company also features Shaleah Adkisson, Emily Afton, Nicholas Belton, Larkin Bogan, Corey Bradley, Marshal Kennedy Carolan, Laura Dreyfuss, Mike Evariste, Lulu Fall, Tripp Fountain, Nkrumah Gatling, Allison Guinn, Sara King, Josh Lamon, John Moauro, Christine Nolan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Arbender Robinson, Cailan Rose, Tanesha Ross, Jen Sese and Lee Zarrett.

The ticket giveaway brings Hair back to its free theater roots, as the production debuted in Central Park as a staged 40th Anniversary concert and was part of The Public Theater’s 2008 Shakespeare in the Park season of free performances.
