Elaine C. Smith to Play Susan Boyle in International Tour of I Dreamed a Dream Musical

Elaine C. Smith will play real life singer Susan Boyle in the new musical I Dreamed a Dream, which is launch an international tour with an engagement at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal beginning on March 23, 2012. Additional tour details will be announced shortly.

Boyle rose to fame with her appearances on the reality series Britain’s Got Talent, which included a performance of the song “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables. Since that time, she has released two solo albums, selling over 14 million copies.

Smith may be best known for her work on such television series as City Lights, Naked Video and Rab C.Nesbitt. In addition, she tours as a comedy performer and has stage credits which include Guys and Dolls and Shirley Valentine, among others.
