Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik has postponed his previously announced Highline Ballroom concert, which was to have been held on June 8 at 8pm, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. A representative cites Sheik’s decision to seek treatment for an alcohol related addiction as the reason for the postponement.

In addition, Sheik has canceled other engagements scheduled for this week at Brighton Music Hall in Boston, The Birchmere in Washington, DC, and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. It is expected that he will resume his concert schedule on June 20 with a performance at Largo in Los Angeles.

Sheik won a Tony Award for his score for Spring Awakening, and he also wrote the score for the musical Whisper House. He won the Grammy for the Spring Awakening cast album and was Grammy-nominated for his 1996 pop hit “Barely Breathing.” His new CD Covers 80 has just been released.
