Charles West to Play El Gallo in Off-Broadway’s The Fantasticks

Charles West will take over the role of El Gallo in the Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks, at the Snapple Theater Center, June 18-26. He is filling in for the vacationing Edward Watts, who will return to the production on June 27.

A modern twist on Romeo and Juliet, the musical is the quintessential story of boy and girl sweethearts who go out into the world and discover that with love comes responsibility, with independence comes danger, and with experience comes joy. The score includes the hit songs “Try To Remember”, “They Were You” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain.”

West is the current understudy for the role of El Gallo. His Broadway credits include The Scarlet Pimpernel and Show Boat. Among his other credits are playing the role of Chris in the 1st national tour of Miss Saigon and Tony in a European tour of West Side Story.

The current company of The Fantasticks also includes Bill Bateman, Matt Dengler, MacIntyre Dixon, Tom Flagg, Matt Leisy, Anne Markt, Michael Nostrand, Dan Sharkey, and Juliette Trafton.
