Casting Announced for Theatreworks USA’s The Yellow Brick Road

Theatreworks USA has announced casting for The Yellow Brick Road, to run July 19 – August 19 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Devanand Janki will direct the production, which will have choreography by Janki and Robert Tatad and music direction by Zachary Dietz.


With a book by Mando Alvarado and Tommy Newman, and music and lyrics by Jaime Lozano and Newman, the show is a salsa and merengue-infused musical inspired by The Wizard of Oz.

The company will feature Virginia Cavaliere (Dora), Lexi Rhoades (Carnival Gloria / The Wizard), Natalie Toro (La Bruja), Ryan Duncan (Scarecrow), Frank Viveros (Tino) and Cedric Leiba Jr. (Mountain Lion).

The creative team will include scenic designer Roger Hanna, costume designer Sydney Maresca, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, sound designer Carl Casella, and puppet designer by Lake Simons. In addition, Salomon Lerner and Jaime Lozano will provide orchestrations and arrangements, with additional arrangements by music director Dietz.

Tickets for The Yellow Brick Road are free and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in-person at the Lucille Lortel Theatre Box Office on the day of the performance. Tickets for each day’s performances will be distributed beginning one hour prior to the first performance of the day. There is a limit of four (4) tickets per adult per day.
