Matthew Cleaver will perform his new solo show, Gay Blues, for three performances, July 2-5 at the Barrow Street Theatre. Michael Page will direct the piece.

Gay Blues focuses on the idea gay marriage, why there needs preceding the word “marriage” and what it is about the combination of the words that makes many people angry.

In conjunction with the performances, there will be a trio of special events including a Marriage Equality Dance Party (July 2 at the theater); Duplex Night (July 3), which will entitle ticket holders to discounts on drinks following the performance; and Equality Gay-la (July 5), a pre-performance reception with local politicians and celebrity guests

Cleaver is writer and performer and recent graduate of Ohio University, where he earned his BFA in Theatre Performance.
