Glen Berger, Michael Chernus, Rinne Groff, Lucy Thurber, et al. to Celebrate Brooke Berman’s Memoir at Seventh Heaven is for Lovers

Playwrights Lucy Thurber, Karen Hartman, Sherry Kramer, Marcus Gardley, Rinne Groff, Michael John Garces, Carlos Murrillo, Ruth Margraff, Carson Kreitzer, Kelly Stuart, Caridad Svich, Michael Hollinger, Liz Duffy Adams, and Glen Berger will join playwright/novelist Brooke Berman for Seventh Heaven is for Lovers, to be held on June 17 at 7pm in the upstairs theatre at New Dramatists. Michael Chernus will host the event, which will celebrate the publication of Berman’s memoir No Place Like Home.

The playwrights will be sharing stories about their time at New Dramatists, and in particular the space at the facility known as “Seventh Heaven,” a monastic dorm room in which they have all lived. Berman herself called the space home twice, and her journey through a variety of apartments in New York is the subject of her book which carries the subtitle “A Memoir in 39 Apartments.”

In addition the reminiscences, the playwrights’ work will be performed by a lineup of artists to be announced at a later date. The event will also feature a cocktail reception and book signing.

In related news, The Play Company will offer an evening of readings and discussion with Berman on Thursday, June 10 at 7 pm at The Huron Club at 15 Vandam St. in Manhattan.
