Diverse City Theater Announces Complete Casting for The Pearl Project

Complete casting has been announced for Diverse City Theater’s The Pearl Project, to run July 6-25 at the Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row. The three-week event will feature full-length plays by Eric Gamalinda and Jorshinelle Taleon-Sonza and two one-acts, by Kristine M. Reyes, performed in repertory and will feature as previously announced Ching Valdes-Aran and Ali Ewoldt.

The event will be broken into two programs. The Red Series will include Reyes’ Quarter Century Baby. Directed by Adam Fitzgerald, the play tells the story of a parents’ surprise visit to their Filipino daughter and her American boyfriend and will feature Ewoldt and Christopher Kloko. Also included in this series will be Gamalinda’s Resurrection, which will be directed by Michael Sexton and which explores the effect of an young woman’s suicide on her family. The company will feature Obie winner Valdez Aran, along with Alexis Camins, Victor Kirio and Tiffany Villarin.

The Blue Series will include Reyes’ Something Blue, to be directed by Andy Goldberg. The play follows an estranged father’s quest to reconnect with his daughter on her wedding day and will feature Raul Aranas and Bonna Tek. Taleon-Sonza’s The Encounter, directed by Nelson T. Eusebio III, also be part of the series and dramatizes an unexpected visit by the incumbent President of the Philippines in his political rival’s prison cell. The company will include Alan Ariano, Patricia Cancio, Andrew Eisenman, Lydia Gaston, Jon Hoche, Jo Macaldo, Jake Myers*, Susan Quinn, Eileen Rivera, Rhed Sandico, and Kurt Uy.
