Cheyenne Jackson has recorded Scott Alan’s song “Blessing,” with all proceeds from the single to benefit The Trevor Project and the Hetrick-Martin Institute. The song is now available for download on iTunes.

“Blessing” is a plea for acceptance from a gay son to a parent, and previously gained national recognition when sung by former American Idol contestant R.J. Helton.

Jackson most recently appeared on Broadway in Finian’s Rainbow, with his other Broadway credits including starring roles in All Shook Up and Xanadu. He also plays the recurring role of Danny Baker on the television show, 30 Rock. He is the recipient of the 2010 Nightlife Award for his cabaret act with Michael Feinstein, The Power of Two, and the pair recently released a CD with the same title.

The Trevor Project operates the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. The Hetrick-Martin Institute offers a comprehensive package of innovative and creative after-school programs, supportive services, and referrals for LGBTQ youth.
