Branford Marsalis to Join New York Philharmonic for July 14 Central Park Concert

2010 Tony Award nominee and three-time Grammy Award winner Branford Marsalis will join the New York Philharmonic for a free concert in Central Park at 8pm on Wednesday, July 14. A fireworks display will follow the concert.

The concert, to be conducted by Andrey Boreyko, will feature Lyadov’s “Baba-Yaga,” Glazunov’s “Concerto for Alto Saxophone,” Schuhoff’s “Hot Sonate for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra,” and selections from Profokiev’s Romeo & Juliet.

Marsalis received a Tony nomination for composing the original score to the hit Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Fences. He also recently received the NEA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
