Singer Kenny Rankin Dies at 69

Kenny Rankin, an acclaimed singer, musician and songwriter, for over 40 years, has died of complications related to lung cancer in Los Angeles. He was 69.

Rankin’s albums include Mind Dusters, Family, Like A Seed, Silver Morning, The Kenny Rankin Album, and A Song For You. He also wrote such noted pop and jazz songs as “On an On,” “Peaceful,” “In The Name of Love,” and “Haven’t We Met.”

Rankin appeared last year at L.A.’s Theatricum Botanicum and presented his cabaret show A Song For You at Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency in 2003.

He is survived by a son, Chris, and two daughters, Gena Rankin-Ray and Chandra Rankin.
