Michael Cerveris, Jan Maxwell, Wendy Whelan et al. Set for Dances with Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Additional casting has been announced for The Shakespeare Society’s Dances with Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a collaboration with the New York City Ballet, to be presented at 7pm on Monday, June 8 at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

The evening will feature three sections of George Balanchine’s 1962 adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream alongside scenes from the play. NYCB principal dancer Wendy Whelan will dance the role of Titania, alongside Antonio Carmena (Oberon), Adam Hendrickson (Puck), Rebecca Krohn (Helena), Jennie Somogyi (Hermia), Jonathan Stafford (Lysander), Tyler Angle (Demetrius), and Henry Seth (Bottom). The performance will also feature actors Michael Cerveris, Aunjanue Ellis, Carson Elrod, Andre Holland, Jennifer Ikeda, Jan Maxwell, and Benjamin Walker, with commentary by director Mark Lamos and Whelan.
