Justina Machado to Join Cast of Broadway’s In the Heights

Justina Machado will take over the role of Daniela in the Broadway production of In the Heights, currently at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, June 29-August 23.

The show is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. Featuring music and lyrics by Miranda, and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, In the Heights is about a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan, and focuses on the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition. In The Heights is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Machado won a 2004 SAG Award as part of the ensemble cast of Six Feet Under, in which she played Vanessa Diaz. Her other film and television credits include Ugly Betty, ER, The Accidental Husband, and In the Electric Mist.

The principal cast of In the Heights also includes Janet Dacal, Robin De Jesús, Mandy Gonzalez, Marcy Harriell, Christopher Jackson, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Javier Muñoz, Rick Négron and Seth Stewart. The ensemble features Tony Chiroldes, Dwayne Clark, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Afra Hines, Marcus Paul James, Nina Lafarga, Doreen Montalvo, Eliseo Román, Gabrielle Ruiz, Luis Salgado, Shaun Taylor-Corbett, Rickey Tripp, Michael Balderrama, Blanca Camacho, Stephanie Klemons, José-Luis Lopez, Antuan Raimone, Alejandra Reyes, and Jon Rua.
