The Harlem Repertory Theatre (HRT) will present a production of the William F. Brown-Charlie Smalls musical The Wiz, adapted from The Wizard of Oz, at Aaron Davis Hall, July 24-September 5 (not to be confused with the production of the show currently playing at City Center).

HRT is also set to present a new adaptation of Flahooley (October 1-4), an allegorical musical tale featuring a score by Sammy Fain and lyrics/book by Yip Harburg and Fred Saidy. The show is the centerpiece of HRT’s 2009 Yip Harburg Festival, which will also include a new one-hour version of The Wizard of Oz; a theatrical concert of the music of Ira Gershwin and Yip Harburg entitled Yip and Gersh; and Who Put the Rainbow in the Wizard of Oz, performed by The Rainbow Troup.
