Betsy Parrish, Elizabeth Shepherd, et al. Set for Songs & Statues at Stella Adler Studio

Broadway veteran Betsy Parrish and Emmy nominee Elizabeth Shepherd will star in the world premiere of Peter Nickowitz’s Songs & Statues, to be presented by The 2009 Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Co. at Stella Adler Studios, June 20-28. Tom Oppenheim will direct.

The play is about an assimilated Jewish family in 1958, suburban Connecticut whose lives are turned upside down when the father is passed over for a promotion because of their Judaism. The cast will also include Fakeer, Chase Fein, Ben Rathbun, and Angela Vitale.

Parrish appeared on Broadway in Deathtrap and La Cage aux Folles, with additional credits including Little Mary Sunshine and Riverwind. Shepherd received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Hermione in A Winter’s Tale on PBS, with stage credits including Inherit the Wind, Period of Adjustment, and War and Peace.
