Cooper, Geary, Kitt, LaChuisa, Lopez, Pelphrey, et al. Win Daytime Emmy Awards

Winners of the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced in two ceremonies, on June 13 in New York and June 20 in Los Angeles.

Jeanne Cooper won her first-ever Emmy for her work as Katherine Chancellor on The Young and the Restless; Anthony Geary won his sixth Best Actor Emmy for playing Luke Spencer on ABC’s General Hospital; Tom Pelphrey won his second Emmy for playing Jonathan Randall on CBS’ Guiding Light; stage and cabaret legend Eartha Kitt was named Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for the Disney Channel’s Yzma; Larry Hochman, Jeffrey Lesser, Michael John LaChiusa, Billy Lopez, Martin Erkskine, J. Walter Hawkes, and Bobby Lopez shared the Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for Nickelodeon’s The Wonder Pets!; and composer-lyricist Lance Horne was among the winners for Outstanding Original Song for Chemistry, which was heard on ABC’s One Life to Live.

Other winners include daytime actors Gina Tognoni, Jennifer Landon, and Kristoff St. John, and talk show hosts Tyra Banks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Regis Philbin.
