Baker, Golden, Hinkle, Ikeda, Parisse, Shear, Tam, et al. Set for 2008 Summer Play Festival

Casting has been announced for the 2008 Summer Play Festival, to take place at the Public Theater, July 1-27.

Among the many participating actors in this year’s eight shows are David Aaron Baker, Nick Blaemire, Chris Chalk, Annie Golden, Marin Hinkle, Jennifer Ikeda, Dan Lauria, Aaron Lohr, Chris McCann, Annie Parisse, Linda Powell, Krysta Rodriguez, Will Rogers, Claudia Shear, and Jason Tam.

This year’s offerings will include Joe Iconis and Robert Maddock’s award-winning rock musical The Black Suits; Jennifer Haley’s Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom, about video game-obsessed teens and seen earlier this year at the Humana Festival of New Plays; Billy Finnegan’s Esther Demsack, a comedy about a governess who tries to discover a haunting family secret; and Stephen Brown’s Future Me, about a successful lawyer who goes to prison, which features new music by Tony Award-winner Stew.

The other shows to be presented are Sarah Hammond’s mystical drama Green Girl; Sylvia Reed’s The Ones That Flutter, about a retiree grappling with the ghosts of his past; Jacquelyn Honess-Martin’s Tell Out My Soul, about the relationship between a young student and a man and his daughter; and Matthew Lopez’s Tio Pepe, about a family that refuses to vacate their Manhattan apartment and give up their dream of becoming Broadway gypsies.
