American Idol Champ Taylor Hicks Begins Grease Run

Taylor Hicks, who was named champion of season five of FOX-TV’s American Idol, joined the Broadway production of Grease as Teen Angel on Friday, June 6. He will continue in the role through September 7.

After his opening performance, Hicks was celebrated at a party at Planet Hollywood, where he was joined by many of his cast members, including Max Crumm, Laura Osnes, and Cody Green (winner of Bravo’s reality TV competition Step It Up and Dance), and the show’s director and choreographer, Kathleen Marshall.

The show, which has received a Tony Award nomination for Best Revival of a Musical, features scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Martin Pakledinaz, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by Brian Ronan.

Since appearing on Idol in 2006, Hicks released a self-titled CD and a memoir Heart Full of Soul: An Inspirational Memoir About Finding Your Voice and Finding You Way.
