Tony Award winner Adriane Lenox will star in the world premiere of Lynn Nottage’s drama Ruined, which will play Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, opening November 17, to be followed by a run at Manhattan Theatre Club, beginning January 21.
Kate Whoriskey will direct the production. Additional casting will be announced at later date.

The play focuses on Mama Nadi, a shrewd businesswoman living in a small mining town in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Nottage’s other plays include Intimate Apparel and Fabulation, the latter of which was directed by Whoriskey.

Lenox won the Tony, among numerous other honors, for Doubt. Her many other New York credits include Ain’t Misbehavin’, Caroline, or Change, Chicago, Dinah Was, Dreamgirls, Kiss Me, Kate, and Something You Did.
