Beginning the week of June 30, the Broadway musical A Catered Affair will discontinue its Wednesday evening performances and replace it with a Thursday matinee at 2pm.

The show, which is directed by John Doyle, has a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, based on an original teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky and its film adaptation by Gore Vidal, and a score by John Bucchino. It follows a working-class couple in the 1950s who must decide whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to launch their only daughter’s marriage with a lavish wedding.

The musical received 2008 Tony Award nominations for stars Faith Prince and Tom Wopat and orchestrator Jonathan Tunick, and was named Best Musical by the Drama League.

The show also stars Fierstein, as well as Leslie Kritzer, Matt Cavenaugh, Philip Hoffman, Katie Klaus, Heather MacRae, Lori Wilner, and Kristine Zbornik.
