Tom Wopat will star opposite Faith Prince, Harvey Fierstein and Leslie Kritzer in the new musical A Catered Affair, which will have a pre-Broadway tryout run at San Diego’s Old Globe Theater, September 20-October 28. The show, which will open officially on September 30, will be directed by Tony winner John Doyle. A Broadway bow in Spring 2008 is expected.

With a book by Fierstein and music and lyrics by John Bucchino, A Catered Affair is centered around a family wedding that takes place in 1953 in the Bronx. Wopat will play Tom Hurley; Prince will star as his wife, Aggie Hurley, the mother of the bride; Fierstein will play her brother, Winston; and Kritzer will play bride-to-be Jane. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Wopat’s Broadway credits include Glengarry Glen Ross, 42nd Street, Annie Get Your Gun, Guys and Dolls, City of Angels, and I Love My Wife. He is currently appearing in the national tour of Chicago as Billy Flynn, and is well known to television viewers for his starring role on The Dukes of Hazzard.
