The producers of Doug Grissom’s play Elvis People, directed by Henry Wishcamper, have announced that the show will close on Saturday, June 23 at New World Stages, barring a marked upswing in ticket sales.

The production is scheduled to open on Thursday, June 21. At the time of its closing, it will have played four performances and 20 previews.

Elvis People was inspired by the American Demographics report that 84% of all Americans say their lives have been touched by Elvis Presley in some way. Grissom traces the influence of Presley on our culture by introducing the audience to some of the funny and touching characters whose lives were forever changed by “The King.”

The cast of Elvis People includes Jordan Gelber, Jenny Maguire, David McCann, Nick Newell, Nell Page, and Ed Sala. The design team is headed by Cameron Anderson (sets), Teresa Squire (costumes), Robert Robins (lighting), Graham Johnson (sound), and Maya Ciarrocchi (video and projections).
