Sheryl Lee Ralph to Star in Sometimes I Cry

Former Tony Award nominee Sheryl Lee Ralph will star in Sometimes I Cry, a theatre piece she conceived that is based on the stories of women who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, at 3pm and 7pm on Sunday, June 25 at Aaron Davis Hall (Convent Avenue and 135th Street).

This is the second production by The Diva Foundation, a national not-for-profit organization founded by Ralph in 1990 as a a memorial to the many friends she lost to HIV/AIDS. She initially presented this piece last December at the National Black Women and HIV/AIDS Conference in Los Angeles.

Ralph starred as Deena Jones in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, for which she received a Tony nomination. Her other Broadway credits include Reggae and Thoroughly Modern Millie, in which she originated the role of Muzzy. She has also starred on such TV series as It’s A Living, Designing Women, and The District.
