Malik Yoba will join Daphne Rubin-Vega in the The New Group’s production of Seth Zvi Rosenfeld’s Everythings Turning Into Beautiful, July 17-August 26 at the Acorn Theater on Theatre Row.

The production, which will be directed by Carl Forsman, will open on August 4. The play, which features songs by Jimmie James, is about two songwriters facing their 40s and failure who come together for a night of composing and soul searching. The show’s creative team includes Beowulf Borrit (sets), Therese Squire (costumes), Josh Bradford (lighting), and Daniel Baker (sound).

Yoba is best known for his role as J.C. Williams on the TV series New York Undercover. His other film and television credits include Cool Runnings, Blue in the Face, Bull, Girlfriends, and Thief.

Rubin-Vega is a two-time Tony Award nominee for Rent and Anna in the Tropics. Earlier this year, she was seen in the Lincoln Center Theater production of Bernarda Alba. She will return to Broadway this fall as Fantine in the revival of Les Misérables.

The New Group will begin its 2006-2007 season in September with a revival of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie starring Cynthia Nixon and directed by Scott Elliott. For more information, visit thenewgroup.org.
