Michael Countryman, Carson Elrod, and John Bedford Lloyd will star in the Westport Country Playhouse’s production of Michael Healey’s The Drawer Boy. The production, to be directed by three-time Tony Award nominee John Tillinger, will run June 22-July 9.

The play concerns two middle-aged men, Angus and Morgan, who share a farm in Canada. Friends since childhood, Angus (Countryman) is now mentally disabled due to a head injury in World War II, while Morgan (Lloyd) is cantankerous. When Miles (Elrod), a young actor from Toronto, arrives to do research for an upcoming role, he inadvertently reveals secrets from the men’s past. The play won Canada’s Dora and Chalmers Awards, and has been produced regionally throughout the U.S.

The show will feature set design by James Noone, costume design by Laurie Chruba, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design by Scott Killian. Tillinger’s Broadway credits include Inherit the Wind, The Price, The Sunshine Boys, and Loot.

Countryman’s many Broadway credits include Night Must Fall, Holiday, and Laughter on the 23rd Floor. Elrod recently starred Off-Broadway in Based on a Totally True Story, for which he received a Drama League Award. Lloyd’s Broadway credits include The Rainmaker and Some Americans Abroad.
