Colella, Cox, Hanlon, Houdyshell, Narayan, Schnetzer, Wilcox et al. to Star at O’Neill Theater Center Conference

Jenn Colella, Veanne Cox, Colin Hanlon, Jayne Houdyshell, Manu Narayan, Stephen Schnetzer, and Wayne Wilcox are just a few of the actors who will participate in the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference and National Musical Theatre Conference, July 5-30, in Waterford, Connecticut.

Other performers who have been confirmed for the Playwrights Conference include Kate Buddeke, Michael Ray Escamilla, Cyrus Farmer, Kevin Geer, Kate Guyton, Daoud Heidami, Marin Ireland, Stephen Kunken, Caitlin O’Connell, and Yul Vasquez.

This year’s line-up of plays features Jorge Ignacio Cortinas’ Bird in the Hand, Tommy Smith’s Air Conditioning, Jason Grote’s 1001, Adam Bock’s The Receptionist, Laura Shellhardt’s The K of D, Darren Canady’s False Creeds (which will be produced by the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta), and Urusla Rani Sarma’s The Exchange.

In addition, two musicals will be presented as part of the O’Neill’s Musical Theatre Conference. Kiki Baby, by Lonny Price, Grant Sturiale, and Ellen Fitzhugh, will star Colella in the tile role, along with Cox, Adam Heller, Alison Briner, William Parry, Dan Sharkey, Colby Foytik, Mary Pat Gleason, Phyllis Sommerville, Anne L. Nathan, and David Pittu. It will be directed by Matt Cowart.

Triangle, by Joshua V. Scher, Curtis Moore, and Thomas Mizer, will star Hanlon, Wilcox, Stephen Bienskie, Heather Ayers, Jodie Langel, Megan McGinnis, Alicia Iriving, and David Brummel. It will be directed by Robert Longbottom, who helmed the Broadway musical Side Show.

Meanwhile, the O’Neill’s National and Cabaret Conference will be held August 2-12. Among the performers who will participate are Penny Fuller, Deven May, Andre DeShields, and Ruth Williamson.
