Stage and screen star Christian Campbell will star in and co-produce a new Off-Broadway production of Michael Weller’s 1979 play Loose Ends this fall. The production will be directed by Austin Pendleton. Theater, production dates, and additional casting information are still to be announced.

The play follows the tumultuous relationship of Paul (to be played by Campbell) and Susan in the 1970s, from their first meeting on a beach in Bali to their marriage in Boston to a later reunion in New York. The original 1979 Broadway production ran at Circle in the Square for 270 performances, with a cast headed by Kevin Kline, Roxanne Hart, Jay O. Sanders, and Jodi Long. Second Stage revived the play in 1988 with Terry Kinney, Jane Kaczmarek, and Laurence Fishburne heading the cast.

Campbell starred as Jimmy in the Los Angeles and Off-Broadway productions of Reefer Madness and re-created his role for Showtime’s film version. He also played Jonathan in the national tour of tick… tick… BOOM! His film and television credits include Trick, The Book of Daniel, and All My Children.
