Zoe Caldwell, Michael Cumpsty, Linda Emond, Denis O’Hare, and John Turturro will be part of the Classic Stage Company’s 2006-2007 season.

Cumpsty, who took on Hamlet last season, will star in the title role of Shakespeare’s Richard II, September 6-October 15. The production will be directed by CSC artistic director Brian Kulick. In addition, Kulick and the cast of Richard II — including Cumpsty — will offer a behind-the-scenes look at Christopher Marlowe’s Edward II as part of CSC’s Open Rehearsal series on Sundays, September 25 and October 1, 8, and 15.

Next up, Turturro will direct Caldwell, a four-time Tony Award winner, Emond, an Obie winner and former Tony nominee, and O’Hare, a Tony winner for Take Me Out, in the English-language premiere of Yasmina Reza’s A Spanish Play, January 10-February 8. This new work from the author of Art and The Unexpected Man is set during the rehearsal of a play.

CSC’s season will conclude with The Iliad, Books I-III, a collaboration with the acclaimed Aquila Theatre Company, to run March 14-April 22. In addition, this season’s First Look Festival of one-night readings will be devoted to the works of Anton Chekhov and The Young Company will present the Bard’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, February 20-March 4.
