The New York City Gay Men’s Chorus will celebrate both its 25th anniversary and Gay Pride month with two performances of a concert titled Season of Pride, to be held in the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at New York University on Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18.

The chorus and its subgroups will present a program including “Color Out of Colorado” from When Pigs Fly, by Dick Gallagher and Mark Waldrop; a “marriage medley” that comprises such songs as “Getting Married Today” from Company and “Bring Me My Bride” from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, both by Stephen Sondheim; “Not a Day Goes By” from Merrily We Roll Along, also by Sondheim; “It’s All Right With Me” from Cole Porter’s Can-Can; and “Old Friend” from I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road, by Nancy Ford and Gretchen Cryer. The concert will also offer music by Giacomo Puccini, Randall Thompson, Robert Seeley, David Maddux, Patsy Cline, and others.

“We are all very excited about this concert,” says Jeffrey Maynard, artistic director and conductor of the chorus. “There is a spirit of celebration as we approach our 25th anniversary performance. This is going to be an incredibly entertaining program with music ranging from classical to swing and from Puccini to The Weather Girls. Beyond the music, we’ll have the NYCGMC dancers on hand for a couple of production numbers, as well as some other surprises in the program.”

Season of Pride will be performed at 8pm on Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18, at the Skirball Center (50 Washington Square South at LaGuardia Place). Tickets range in price from $35 to $85. For more information or to purchase tickets, phone the Skirball box office at 212-992-8484 or visit www.NYCGMC.org.
