Actor Josh Lucas left the cast of the current Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, in which he had been playing the Gentleman Caller, on Sunday, June 5 to begin filming the big-screen remake of the classic 1972 disaster movie The Poseidon Adventure.

According to a spokesman, the show’s producers are in negotiation with an unnamed actor to replace Lucas; until then, the role will be performed by understudy Joey Collins, who played Tom Wingfield after Dallas Roberts left the show and before Christian Slater took over. The Glass Menagerie is scheduled to continue its run through July 17.

The Poseidon Adventure will be directed by Wolfgang Petersen and will star Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfuss, and Emmy Rossum. Lucas has two films coming out later this year, Stealth and Glory Road.
