Shuler Hensley, Marya Grandy, Linda Hart, Kaitlin Hopkins, Leslie Kritzer, Orfeh, and Wayne Wilcox will make up the cast of The Great American Trailer Park Musical, scheduled to begin performance on August 20 at Dodger Stages and to open officially on September 15.

Hensley received a Tony Award for his performance as Jud Fry in the 2002 revival of Oklahoma! Grandy’s credits include The Water Coolers, while Hart was most recently seen as Velma von Tussle in Hairspray. Hopkins’ New York credits include Bat Boy and Bare. Kritzer has starred in Hairspray, Godspell, and the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Funny Girl. Orfeh is best known for her role of Annette in Saturday Night Fever on Broadway. Wilcox appeared in the Lincoln Center Theatre production of A Man of No Importance.

With a score by David Nehls and book and direction by Betsy Kelso, the musical tells the story of Pippi (Orfeh), a new tenant — and runaway stripper — at Armadillo Acres, Florida’s most exclusive trailer park. Her arrival wreaks havoc on the unhappy marriage of the agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband. The show was first seen in a presentation at last year’s New York Musical Theater Festival; the production at Dodger Stages will feature sets by Derek McLane, costumes by Markas Henry, lighting by Donald Holder, and sound design by Peter Fitzgerald.
