Altar Boyz to Hold Open Auditions for Detroit Engagement

The producers of Altar Boyz will hold open auditions in Chicago and Detroit this month to cast the upcoming Detroit production of the award-winning Off-Broadway musical comedy. The show will bow in Detroit on September 6 at the City Theatre as part of the 2005-2006 Fisher Playgoer Subscription Series.

Altar Boyz is a “concert” by five members of a Christian boy band. Audtionees must be male, 20-30 years of age, excellent singers in a pop style similar to the musical group N’Sync, first-rate hip-hop dancers, and in great physical shape. They will be asked to perform one pop up-tempo song and one pop ballad; piano accompaniment will be provided, but auditionees must bring sheet music written in their key. A professional résumé and photo are required.

Auditions will be held in Chicago on June 10 from 10am to 5pm at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halstead Street. Detroit auditions will be held on June 25 from 1pm to 6pm at the Fountain Ballroom of the Masonic Temple, 500 Temple Avenue.
