Donna Murphy et al. to be Honored with "Women of Achievement Awards"

Women’s Project & Productions’ 2004 “Women Of Achievement Awards” will be be bestowed at a cocktail party on Monday, June 7. Donna Murphy, star of the current Broadway revival of Wonderful Town, is the only actress to be honored this year; the other awardees are Robin Burns, CEO of Victoria’s Secret Beauty Company; Gail Sheehy, author and cultural critic; and Susan Wadsworth, artistic director of Young Concert Artists. Past recipients include Ruby Dee, Dame Judi Dench, Maya Angelou, Audra McDonald, Toni Morrison, Gloria Steinem, and others.


Women’s Project & Productions (WPP) has presented hundreds of plays, readings, and workshops since its foundation by artistic director Julia Miles in 1978. The company has nurtured such artists as María Irene Fornés, Emily Mann, and Ann Bogart; its initiatives include a publishing service and an arts education program that serves thousands of public school students.
