On Wednesday, June 25, beginning at 10am, Bonhams & Butterfields will hold an auction of books, manuscripts and entertainment memorabilia at its San Francisco gallery. The auction will feature The Miles White Collection of Original Costume Designs.

Although White (1914-2000) also worked in film, ballet, and television, he is best known as costume designer for the original Broadway productions of shows such as Oklahoma!, Bloomer Girl, Carousel, High Button Shoes, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Take Me Along, Bye Bye Birdie, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Milk and Honey, and Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. The collection to be auctioned on June 25 comprises 40 lots featuring more than 150 original watercolor drawings. Over the course of his career, White received two Tony Awards and four Donaldson Awards for his theater costume designs.

The auction will be held in the Bonhams & Butterfields San Francisco gallery and will be simulcast to the Los Angeles gallery. A complete online catalog of the auction may be viewed by clicking here.
