A discussion panel titled "In Stereophonic Sound: The Past, Present, and Future of Original Cast Recordings" will be held at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on Saturday, June 7 at 3pm as part of the library's cast recording exhibition, which has been extended through September 6.

The discussion will focus on the history of musical theater recordings from the early years of recorded sound through the cast album revolution of the 1940s to the present day, as well as the future of cast recordings and the role of the Internet in the recording industry.

The panelists will include Kurt Deutsch, co-founder and president of Sh-K-Boom Records, and his wife, Sherie René Scott -- the label's co-founder -- who has appeared on and Off-Broadway in Aida, Rent, The Who's Tommy, The Last 5 Years, and Debbie Does Dallas. Also on the panel will be Brian Drutman, senior director of Decca Broadway, and Seymour Red Press, a longtime music coordinator of Broadway musicals.

The event will be held in the library's Bruno Walter Auditorium, 111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street. Admission is free. For more information, phone 212-870-1630 or visit
