Original Cast Records has announced that it will release a studio cast recording of the 1986 Off-Broadway musical Brownstone later this month.

The album boasts one of the show’s original stars, Liz Callaway (The Look of Love, The Spitfire Grill), and features the original orchestrations by Harold Wheeler (Hairspray, Dreamgirls). Also starring in the recording are Rebecca Luker (The Music Man, Show Boat), Brian d’Arcy James (Sweet Smell of Success, Titanic), Debbie Gravitte (Jerome Robbins’ Broadway), and Kevin Reed (who appeared in Brownstone at the Berkshire Theatre Festival last year).

Brownstone was awarded the Richard Rodgers Award for a yet-to-be-produced musical in 1984 and was subsequently mounted Off-Broadway in 1986 with a cast including Callaway, Rex Smith, and Tony Award-winner Ben Harney. The 26-song score of the show includes the cabaret standard “Since You Stayed Here” as well as three new songs written for the 2002 Berkshire Theatre Festival production.
