Richard Rodgers Birthday Concert This Friday at the Gershwin Theatre, Free and Open to the Public

Laura Benanti, John Bucchino, Barbara Cook, John Cullum, Toni DiBuono, Erin Dilly, Hunter Foster, Sutton Foster, Marin Mazzie (accompanied by Stephen Flaherty), Shuler Hensley, Howard McGillin, Lauren Mitchell, Louise Pitre, Lea Salonga, Billy Stritch, Mary Testa, and Patrick Wilson and the Oklahoma! chorus are scheduled to appear at a concert on Friday, June 28, commemorating the centenary of the great American musical theater composer Richard Rodgers.

Titled Something Good: A Broadway Salute to Richard Rodgers on His 100th Birthday, the concert is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Gershwin Theatre, home to the current Broadway revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Oklahoma! The program will feature songs from that show, from other Rodgers and Hammerstein classics such as Carousel, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music, and from shows that Rodgers wrote with Lorenz Hart, including Pal Joey and The Boys from Syracuse.

Seating for the event will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 11:30am and the one-hour concert will begin at noon. The Gerswin Theatre is located between 50th and 51st streets and between Broadway and 8th Avenue in Manhattan.
