Zachary Levi, Bryan Cranston, and More Broadway Newcomers Win 2014 Theatre World Awards

The 70th Annual Theatre World Award recipients were announced this morning. The 12 honorees acknowledged for their Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performance include Paul Chahidi (Twelfth Night, or What You Will), Nick Cordero (Bullets Over Broadway), Bryan Cranston (All the Way), Mary Bridget Davies, (A Night With Janis Joplin), Sarah Greene (The Cripple of Inishmaan), Rebecca Hall (Machinal), Ramin Karimloo (Les Misérables), Zachary Levi (First Date), Chris O'Dowd (Of Mice and Men), Sophie Okonedo (A Raisin in the Sun), Emerson Steele (Violet), and Lauren Worsham (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder).
Celia Keenan-Bolger has been named this year's winner of the 6th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theater for her performance as Laura in this past season's revival production of The Glass Menagerie — a performance that also earned her a Tony Award nomination. Additionally, two-time Tony Award winner and living theater legend Christopher Plummer will be presented with the 2014 John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.
The winners will be celebrated at an awards ceremony on Monday, June 2, at Circle in the Square, the current home of Broadway's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. Theater journalist Peter Filichia will host the evening's events.
First presented in 1945, the Theatre World Awards are presented annually at the end of the theater season to six actors and six actresses for their significant, reviewable, debut performances in a Broadway or off-Broadway production.
