Plays by Howard Barker and David Edgar on Tap for Potomac Theatre Project Summer Season

”Gertrude: The Cry” and ”Pentecost” will be staged at Atlantic Stage 2.

Off-Broadway's Potomac Theatre Project has announced the selections of its 28th repertory season, running from July 8-August 10 at Atlantic Stage Two. The lineup includes Howard Barker's Gertrude – The Cry, directed by Richard Romagnoli, and David Edgar's Pentecost, directed by Cheryl Faraone.

Gertrude: The Cry is a response to Shakespeare's Hamlet, told from the perspective of Gertrude, Hamlet's mother. The cast includes David Barlow, Alex Draper, Pamela J. Gray, Kathryn Kates, Bill Army, Meghan Leathers, Robert Emmet Lunney, Aashna Aggarwal, Joelle Mendoza, and Jake Schwartzwald.

David Edgar's Pentecost follows what happens when a group of armed refugees barricade themselves inside an abandoned church after the discovery of a 13th century fresco. The company features Alex Draper, Tosca Giustini, Jonathan Tindle, Matthew Ball, Lily Balsen, Martina Bonolis, Christo Grabowski, Larry Nathanson, Nina Silver, Lilli Stein, Joseph Varca, Tom Beyer, Aubrey Dube, Caitlin Rose Duffy, Erica Furgiuele, Nicholas Hemerling, Rishabh Kashyap, Chelsea Melone, Jake Schwartzwald, and Mari Vial-Golden.

The creative team for both productions includes Mark Evancho (set design), Hallie Zieselman (lighting design), Danielle Nieves (costume design, Gertrude), Cormac Bluestone (sound design, Gertrude), Adrienne Carlile (costume deisgn, Pentecost, based on a design by Jule Emerson), and Aubrey Dube (sound design, Pentecost).
