UPDATED: The Glass Menagerie, With Cherry Jones and Zachary Quinto, Will Play the Booth Theatre This September

UPDATED: The A.R.T. production of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie has been slated to play a 17-week limited run at Broadway’s Booth Theatre. Previews are scheduled to begin on September 5 with an official opening night set for September 26. The production will run through January 5, 2014. Tickets are now on sale.

April 25, 2013 – Tony Award winner John Tiffany’s revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, which recently concluded an acclaimed run at American Repertory Theater‘s Loeb Drama Center, will arrive on Broadway this fall. The drama will begin preview performances on September 5 at a Shubert Organization theater to be announced, with an official opening date set for September 26. Jeffrey Richards and John N. Hart produce the revival, which is scheduled for a 17-week run.

Two-time Tony Award winner Cherry Jones (Doubt) leads the company of Williams’ semi-autobiographical memory play as domineering matriarch Amanda Wingfield. She is joined by Theater World Award winner Zachary Quinto (Angels in America) as her son, Tom, Tony Award nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger (Peter and the Starcatcher) as her emotionally and physically fragile daughter, Laura, and Brian J. Smith (The Columnist) as The Gentleman Caller.

Featured on the creative team are Steven Hoggett (movement), Bob Crowley (sets and costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Clive Goodwin (sound design), and Nico Muhly (music).

Rumors of the production’s Broadway transfer have been swirling since before it even began performances, owing to the caliber of the cast and creative team. While the production closed at A.R.T. on March 17 and theoretically could have made it to New York before the 2013 Tony Awards, Quinto first has to fulfill publicity commitments for the soon-to-be-released film Star Trek Into Darkness.
