Neil LaBute’s Reasons to Be Happy, With The Office Star Jenna Fischer, Extends Off-Broadway

The dark comedy, which also features Leslie Bibb, Josh Hamilton, and Fred Weller, will now play through June 29.

MCC Theater’s production of Neil LaBute’s latest dark comedy, Reasons to Be Happy, has extended its off-Broadway run at theLucille Lortel Theatre though Saturday, June 29. Originally scheduled to close on June 23, the production, which LaBute also directs, will open June 11.

A follow-up to LaBute’s Tony Award-nominated Reasons to be Pretty, the work is set three years later and finds former lovers Steph (played by The Office star Jenna Fischer) and Greg (Josh Hamilton) hoping to rekindle their relationship, even though she is married to someone else, and he is seeing her best friend, Carly (Leslie Bibb). Fred Weller completes the four-person cast as Kent, Carly’s ex-husband and Greg’s best friend.

Reasons to Be Happy features set design by Neil Patel, costume design by Sarah Holden, lighting design by Ben Stanton, and sound design by Robert Kaplowitz.
