Lincoln Center Theater Opens its World Premiere Production of Nikolai and the Others at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater

Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris and the cast of Nikolai and the Others celebrate their opening night at Lincoln Center.

Last night, Tony Award-nominated playwright Richard Nelson celebrated the world premiere opening of his new play, Nikolai and the Others, at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

Directed by David Cromer, the play follows a notable group of Russian émigrés, including choreographer George Balanchine (Michael Cerveris), composer Igor Stravinsky (John Glover), conductor Serge Koussevitsky (Dale Place), painter/set designer Sergey Sudeikin (Alvin Epstein), and composer Nikolai Nabokov (Stephen Kunken). The artists spend a spring weekend in Westport, CT during which the audience witnesses the creation of Orpheus, the historic Balanchine/Stravinsky ballet collaboration. The cast also features Betsy Aidem, Natalia Alonso, Blair Brown, Anthony Cochrane, Lauren Culpepper, Kathryn Erbe, Jennifer Grace, Katie Kreisler, Haviland Morris, John Procaccino, Michael Rosen, Gareth Saxe, and Alan Schmuckler.

In celebration of this world premiere event, TheaterMania snapped a few pictures of the cast and creative team after their opening-night performance. Take a look at Nikolai and the Others dressed in their Sunday best.
