Project: Theater has announced that it will present the world premiere Joe Jung-directed production of Ken Ferrigni’s Occupation, June 6-23 with an opening on June 12. Performances will take place at TBG Theatre.

In Occupation it is 2017 and crushing national debt, skyrocketing inflation, and crippling unemployment have frozen the United States’ access to global credit. The government finds an unexpected savior when China purchases Florida for $5 trillion, but violent insurgency in the Everglades still plans to oust the new government.

The show’s cast will feature James Chen (We Need to Talk About Kevin), Eugene Douglas (Sun Ra at Soho Rep), Jonathan Hopkins (The Sneeze at the Pearl), Heather Kelley (Don Carlos, Prospect Theater Company), Jennifer Logue (Caroline’s on Broadway), and Alexandra Perlwitz (Mangella with Project: Theater).

The design team includes J.J. Bernard and Francois Portier (set design), Adam Carpenter (lighting design), Matt Hamilton (costume design), and Nick Borisjuk (sound design). The fight director is Joie Bauer.

Project: Theater was founded in 2004 by Garrett Ayers, Brian Frank, Kevin Dodd, and current artistic director Joe Jung. The company aims to make theater that matters by cultivating an environment that encourages artists to challenge their skills and talents.
