Broadway-Bound Big Fish Releases Footage of the Musical Number “Time Stops”

Get an early listen of Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa’s score, coming to Broadway next season.

This fish will soon be jumping into a pond that fits its size. Big Fish, a new musical based on the 1998 Daniel Wallace novel and the 2003 John August film, recently completed an acclaimed pre-Broadway engagement at Chicago’s Oriental Theater. The production is currently scheduled to open at the Neil Simon Theatre on October 6.

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (The Scottsboro Boys), the show includes a score by Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family) and a book by screenwriter John August. It also boasts a star-studded cast, featuring Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz (Catch Me If You Can) as Edward Bloom, Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin (Giant) as Sandra Bloom, and Tony Award nominee Bobby Steggert (Giant) as Will Bloom.

To build the anticipation for its Broadway revival, the production has released footage of a complete musical number entitled “Time Stops,” performed by Butz and Baldwin. This should give you a taste of what will be coming at next year’s Tony Awards.
