PHOTO FLASH: Taye Diggs Visits Adam Pascal Backstage at Memphis

Stage and television star Taye Diggs attended the Broadway production of Memphis, at the Shubert Theatre, on Thursday, May 24. Afterwards, he visited with the cast, including his former Rent co-star and good friend Adam Pascal, who stars in the show as Huey Calhoun.

Memphis takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50’s, where a young white DJ fell in love with everything he shouldn’t: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer.

The musical won four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score (David Bryan and Joe DiPietro), Best Book (Joe DiPietro), and Best Orchestrations (David Bryan and Daryl Waters).

Diggs originated the role of Benjamin Coffin III (aka Benny) in Rent, and repeated his role for the film version of the musical. Additional Broadway credits include stints as Fiyero in Wicked and Billy Flynn in Chicago. He is a series regular on the ABC drama Private Practice.
