The Public Theater celebrated the opening night of Gabriel Kahane and Seth Bockley’s new musical February House on Tuesday, May 22 with a post-performance party at Five Points Restaurant.
Davis McCallum directs the production, which is based on Sherill Tippins’ non-fiction book of the same title, which explores the lives of the noted tenants of an artist commune organized by George Davis in a small house in Brooklyn Heights at the start of World War II.
The cast features Stanley Bahorek (Benjamin Britten), Ken Barnett (Peter Pears), Ken Clark (Reeves McCullers), Julian Fleisher (George Davis), Stephanie Hayes (Erika Mann), Erik Lochtefeld (W.H. Auden), Kacie Sheik (Gypsy Rose Lee), A.J. Shively (Chester Kallman), and Kristen Sieh (Carson McCullers).
Guests at the performance included Alan Alda, John Collins, Maria Elena Ramirez, Mo Rocca, Ted Sperling.
The production features scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting design by Mark Barton, sound design by Leon Rothenberg, and choreography by Danny Mefford.
