New Victory Announces 2012-2013 Season

The New Victory Theater has announced programming for its 2012-13 season, which will feature productions in its home on 42nd Street, as well as neighboring theaters.
First up will be the U.S. premiere of Urban (October 12-21) by Circolombia, featuring young Colombian circus performers who share their real-life stories through acrobatics, aerial work and tremendous feats of strength. Next will be Ring a Ding Ding (October 17-November 11), a participatory theater show from the London-based Oily Cart, presented in Studio 3A/B at the New 42nd Street Studios.
Mojo (October 26-November 4), by Theatre-Rites, is a collage of puppetry, illusion, dance and live music. Black Violin (November 9-25), will feature the return of virtuoso violinists Kev and Wil B with their funky fusion of classical, jazz, hip-hop, blues and R&B. Circus Oz will return to the New Victory with From the Ground Up (November 30-December 30), starring acrobats, jugglers, trapeze artists, and a live rock band.
I, Malvolio (January 11-20), written and performed by Tim Crouch, is a one-man tour-de-force about the puritanical butler of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and will perform at The Duke on 42nd Street. Scottish theater company Visible Fictions brings The Mark of Zorro (February 8-24), a timeless tale about a mysterious masked avenger. Australia’s Windmill Theatre will present the puppetry show Grug at the New 42nd Street Studios.
New York’s The Acting Company’s production of Shakespeare’s comedy, As You Like It (March 1-10), directed by Dan Rothenberg. Circus superstar Bello Nock performs and directs his brand new show, Bello Mania (March 15-31). Next will be the sci-fi adventure The Intergalactic Nemesis (April 5-14), from Book One: Target Earth.
Compagnie XY will present the U.S. premiere of Le Grand C (April 18-28), featuring a collective of 17 acrobats. Le Clan des Songes will present the U.S. premiere of Fragile (April 25-May 12), a word-free work of puppet theater at the Studio 3A/B at the New 42nd Street Studios.
The Opera Group and Opera North in association with ROH2 and Watford Palace Theatre, produce the U.S. premiere of David Bruce and Glyn Maxwell’s The Firework Maker’s Daughter (May 3-12), based on the novel by Philip Pullman. John Fulljames will direct the production, featuring a live orchestra conducted by award-winning composer, David Bruce, and libretto by award-winning poet, Glyn Maxwell.
Urban dance guru Rennie Harris will delivers street dance with straight-up Philly soul in Rennie Harris Awe-inspiring Works, aka RHAW (May 17-26). Ireland’s Theatre Lovett will bring The Girl Who Forgot to Sing Badly (May 31-June 9) to The Duke on 42nd Street, written by Finegan Kruckemeyer, directed by Lynne Parker, and starring actor Louis Lovett.
