Local One IATSE to Protest Non-Union Labor on Spiegelworld’s Empire

Members of Local One of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) will hold a demonstration on Tuesday, May 22 at 11am to protest the use of non-union lighting and audio technicians on the Spiegelworld’s non-union production of Empire.

According to press notes and additional reports, the work force on Empire, which also begins previews on May 22, is entirely non-union.

The demonstration, which will take place at 265 West 45th Street, where Spiegelworld has pitched its tent for the production, is expected to be the largest Stagehand demonstration since their strike in 2007.
