Hilton Als, Olympia Dukakis, Sarah Ruhl Set for Discussions at Soho Rep’s Uncle Vanya

Soho Repertory Theatre has announced the participants in FEED post-performance program, which will follow select evenings of its upcoming production of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, in a new adaptation by Annie Baker, running June 7-July 15.

The “Chekhov and Me” series, in which participants will reflect on the writer’s work and legacy, will feature Olympia Dukakis, Sarah Ruhl, Hilton Als, Siddhartha Mukharjee, Taya Saracho, and Alison Horsely. Dates for the “Chekhov and Me” program will be announced.

Additionally, on Monday, June 25, Lila Neugebauer will direct members of the Uncle Vanya company in a reading of Chekhov’s The Wood Demon, the work which led to the creation of Uncle Vanya, ten years later.

Sam Gold directs the production, which features Reed Birney (Vanya), Maria Dizzia (Yelena), Georgia Engel (Marina), Peter Friedman (Serebryakov), Matthew Maher (Telegin), Rebecca Schull (Maria), Michael Shannon (Astrov), Paul Thureen (Yefim), and Merritt Wever (Sonya).

The production includes scenic design by Andrew Lieberman, costume design by Baker, lighting design by Mark Barton, sound design by Matt Tierney, fight direction by Thomas Schall, and Margarita Shalina (literal translation).
